You can start out in gears other than 1 in AS Mode, which may give you the desired effect that you're looking for, whatever it may be.I thought briefly about this for when power output gets to be too much for tires to handle off the line.Just a thought.

Actually, using the stall speed on the converter for launch does the opposite - the car has even more of a problem with traction. To do it properly, you need a car that can hook up... My stock GT is too much torque off idle to hook up w/o trac on, so I doubt running it up to 2000 rpm is required - your idea of launching in second sounds interesting though. less shift points = more consistency, plus better PCM maps for the turbo i think..
