Silly men cant read I am putting the GTs and Turbo Lites together so I need the judges to be able to tell the difference between a factory turbo (180 or 215 or 220) and a n/a. Common threads:
1. Intake Manifold
2. Exhaust?
3. Smooth front bumper?
My apologies. Factory Turbo (all) vs N/A differences that I know of include:

1. Intake Manifold
2. Exhaust (larger diameter and with chrome tip on turbo)
3. 2.4L Turbo badge on hatch
4. Larger lower grille on turbo
5. Turbo solenoids over passenger side front shock tower (a very obvious giveaway even in a close up photo)

GT's come with brite pedals, a spoiler, 17" wheels with "5-star" chrome rims and if manual tranny, it has a Getrag shifter with reverse to the left and up off of first.

I am developing a class for a car show originally labeled GT class...then with you crazy 180's..changed it to Turbo Factory PT. My question...what are some common threads that run amongst the turbod cars that I can list for the judges so they can easily tell the difference. Obviously the intake manifold...but is teh chrome exhaust tip there on the PT Lites as well? Any other ideas??

Unfortunately, the '03 GT didn't come with brite pedals and a spoiler (at least not on my '03 GT). The spoiler was, in fact, an optional item for that year.

Chrome Pedals are on 2004+ only. In 2003 the base wheel on the GT was a painted silver 17" just like the chrome.
2004 Limited Turbos come with the 16" wheels.

Regarding the VIN...

The pertinent parts of the VIN on my 2003 GT.

3|C|8|F|Y|7|8|G|X|3|T|000000

1st Character: Country of Origin (3=Mexico)
2nd Character: Vehicle Make (C=Chrysler)
3rd Character: Vehicle Type (8=Multi-Purpose Car W/Pass & Side Airbags)
4th Character: GVWR (F=4,000-5,000lbs)
5th Character: Line Type (Y=Left Hand Drive)
6th Character: Series (7=GT)*
7th Character: Body Style (8=4 Door With Rear Hatch)
8th Character: Engine (G=2.4L Turbo)
9th Character: Check Digit (X=Open Space)
10th Character: Model Year (3=2003)
11th Character: Assembly Plant (T=Toluca)
12-17th Characters: Build Number

I did some contrasting between different PT VINs to figure out what some of them were since the only published info I could find was for a 2001 PT. It looks like the 6th character would be the easiest way to distinguish between the models, so far as I can tell they match up like this:

4 = Base Model
5 = Touring Model
6 = Limited Model
7 = GT Model
? = Dream Model (the dealership I was using to compare VINs at didn't have any in stock so I don't know what code it uses)

To distinguish between engines the 8th character is the one to look at. Near as I can figure it breaks down like this:

B = 2.4L N/A
8 = 2.4L Turbo Lite
G = 2.4L Turbo

It does bear mentioning that this only applies to the hardtops. I glanced over the Ragtop VINs and they use different codes for some reason.

If anyone notices any mistakes in the layout give a yell but I think it's all right.

Looks like you nailed it Beacon. Looking at my VIN and the info you show everything adds up: Limited Edition & Turbo Lite. This is interesting info to have, thanks for posting it.

Good deal.

I've been considering doing this ever since I went looking to decode the paint/trim code plaque and just hadn't gotten around to it.

You didn't say 150 hp NA. Turbo has aluminum intake. Lites don't have Stick or Autostick. Simple.

Course you can have everyone register with the specs on their car stock:
GT 03 vs GT 04 vs LE Turbo, Touring Turbo
