Default Cheap upgrades

I have an 05 gt convertible automatic bone stock and I was wondering if anyone could recommend some cheap upgrades to boost performance. Also, any recommendations for a new louder exhaust? I found the stock one to be way too quiet for my liking. Thanks.

some folks on here just remove the muffler and add a pipe in it's place. can't get much cheaper than that! you can unbolt it right before the muffler to see if you like the sound or not.

Thanks for the info. I changed out the air filter and put a K&N filter in. I was also looking at the cold air intakes. Would I be better off installing one of those instead of keeping the filter? Also, anything else approx. under $500 that I could do to increase the hp a bit?

Take out the back seats. That's a 100lb drop in weight right there. Cost = $.0

Don't go with that. Your air box is a true cold air system, It takes the air from outsida of the engine bay. Anything else you will be sucking in hot air. Did you do the air box mod? It's easy. I just took out my silencers. I went with the muffler delete and I love the sound. A little loud when it's warming up but It sounds like a rally car to me. Look into the Diablosport tuners if you want to add some easy power. Tuners are under $500 and you will not be sorry.

You can't get any cheaper than shortening the arm on the wastegate actuator. The point is to add a slight bit more tension. This can also be done with a bleed or adding an additional spring. Free mods like this are considered ghetto but they do work, but you have to know and understand what you're doing. A little is okay but too much tension on the WGA can put you in a world of hurt without a lot of other supporting mods to fuel and spark advance.

Without going into details of the "how to's", here's a budget guide:
First 15-20 horsepower......Free
The next 20 horsepower.....$200/$300
20/30 more horsepower.....$800/$1000
More...........................$$3000/$6000
More than that............you can't afford it

................and then there's the Stage 1 PCM upgrade for about 50+ hp. It's not exactly "cheap" at $300 to $400, but it's the best bang for the buck out there and it's a simple install anyone can do.
