Default Gasoline for 04 GT

I just purchased a GT a few weeks ago and i see that premium fuel of 91 octane is recomended. Is 89 ok to use? some stations by me either offer only 87 or 93. would 93 do anything harmful?

I dont ahve a GT but Id say the lower octane will ping and knock Im pretty sure you need to run the premium in it for everything to work the right ways

If it were my car, I would go with the 93 over the 87.
Knocking or pre-ignition could eat up all the money you saved on cheaper gas....

Some have used 89 with no ill effect - it comes down to that line in the movies -

91 is "recommended" because in some parts of the country that's all that's available as the top grade. If you have 93 locally, it's fine and superior to 91 so don't sweat it.

The extra couple of points for high octane only comes into play at wide open throttle, high boost. If you're not planning to put the pedal to the metal every other stop light, such as highway cruising on the way to Grandma's house, your engine won't even know if there is lower octane in the tank. If you know you don't have that kind of self control or if you have other drivers who may have a heavy foot, just get the top grade and rest easy.

I've run mine on 87 for 7 years now with absolutely no ill effect, matter of fact, we have to e-test ours every other year and so far it scores in the " exceptionally clean " running category.... So, in other news, I use 94 here this winter, it's been -20 or colder for 37days now ! .I am convinced it translates to better starts, even with recent plugs and wires.

My son who builds and races Subarus, says that the 93 actually gives him better gas mileage with his turbo.
* But, most importantly, use 100% gasoline!

but in another car I use a mix of gasoline and LPG and get about 8-12% more power, MPG,cleaner oil, cleaner internal engine parts.......

Use a Top Tier gasoline. A repair shop customer of mine says he is seeing more fuel problems with customers using cheap gas.
