It would be close. If you have the 5spd and it is a hatchback (03 so yes) then I would put my money on your GT. The manual yields better 1/4 mile times. And same with being a hatchback, since they are lighter than the convertibles. Most people do not consider those factors.

But only one way to know for sure Legally, of course

That's what I like to hear. GTI fanboys don't like to admit there car is slower than a PT Cruiser

Update

So I just got a diablosport for the pt and I will say one thing it's crazy fast now as soon as boost hits at 3.5 k holy crap does it move.

Update with new mods 07 gti k&n with arp stage one 93 tune (6 speed) vs pt gt 03 mangnaflow mopar stage one and k&n(auto stick). Did a race again this time he jumped but I was pulling on him the hole time.

Pt with the diablosport (91 tune) vs gti. I was in 2 when I should have been in first. He started to pull on me in the beginning but when I got to 3.5k and the I was walked past him like he wasn't there.

My son says he "raced" a 2002 Mustang V6 two days ago and blew the guys doors off from the light. At the next light the guy looked at him with disbelief at what had happened and began revving his engine again, so he showed him some PT Turbo power again. Half way down the block the guy pulled in to a fast store store lot.
My son's car is a Midnight Blue Metallic 03 PTGT with turbo 2.4 and automatic, what turbo I don't know. How can we tell?

Alll pt gts have the same turbo and engine. I did some reading in the forums and found out that some gt are lite (does not have the high output badge) these gt's only have 180hp. this was due to a computer tune that allowed these motors to run regular safely. the 03 pt gt are all the same with no lit versions it was only in till after 2003 that this lite version was made.

hope that answered your question
