I have solved my motor mount problem. I met with Psi-Fi Motorsports to see if the turbo upgrade that they make for the SRT-4 will fit on the PT (IT WILL). They had some urethane bushing motor mounts for $150 that I had installed.

This is the top mount.

I know that my motor mount problem are now solved. I will not be breaking these. The car does have some vibration at idle but once you get going you it goes away. I did notice that the wheel hop has decreased. The install was straight forward, replacing the stock mounts perfectly. The only problem was in getting my old mounts off. The dealer must have used an impact wrench when installing the stock mounts. It took a rather large pipe on a ratchet to remove the bolts.

Thanks Mike.

Any increase noise at speed? My car with one filled mount and 1 solid, I have a hard time keeping a conversation on the highway.

Not really, the noise decreases with higher RPMs. I do have some more noise but my Mopar exhaust created far more noise than the new motor mounts.

I just had the same clunk and vibrations on my 2006 PT Cruiser. I only have 18K miles yet the dealer will not cover the repair under warranty because I have a small impression on the arm that the dealer claims I hit something that cause the bolt to shear. Did your dealer who covered your repair under warranty say what cause the bolt to fail? I am looking at a $1500 repair because the upper bolt also sheared.

I, too, have a busted FMM. Apparently it's been that way for a while now. I just thought my car was slow. When I had my intake and spacer installed, the guy told me that I needed to get that fixed. So I take mine in this Thursday and that will be resolved, as well as a new timing belt and water pump. She'll be running fit by then! I'm excited.

Guy quick tip with the motor mount inserts.

The Auto trans cars suffer from the vibration issue much more than the 5-speed cars do. I have one of each in my drive way the filled mounts I have were horrible in the auto, but hardly noticable in the 5-speed. It went from shaking so bad your hands went numb holding the wheel at a stop light(on the auto) to just having the A/C on all the time(in the 5-speed). Just FYI Inserts shake less but its the same difference through the range of options.

Took mine into the shop. Turns out it wasn't the motor mount. It was the torque straps. Cheaper to replace. And I just got it back today, already have a new exhaust installed! I love my car more and more each day.
