Default Need help.

I have a 2006 PT Cruiser GT Conv.
Whenever I start up the car, a plume of white smoke comes out of the tailpipe. Fortunately, it doesn't continue to billow out. But the reason is because there is oil in the intake manifold. Also, the car stumbles on acceleration at times. I'm thinking this is in part due to oil getting in the air. What I need to know is what is causing this.

I did find a possible solution:
Massive oil consumption/HUGE cloud of white smoke on start up

I need to have the PCV valve looked at. I'm going to try that first and see what happens.

The PCV valve was the culprit. The mechanic had to remove the valve cover to get the pieces of it that fell inside.

Luckaly it didn't do any damage to the engine when it fell apart. Glad you got it fixed.

You were indeed lucky. Every other possible cause of your problem would be way more expensive to fix.

The pieces would have stayed in the baffle of the cover. This happens a lot. But I like knowing there out also. Glad you have it sorted out.

The PCV valve is a maintenance item and needs to be changed from time to time. Not as often as an oil change but more often than a spark plug change.
