oil in filter box

Has any other turbo owners noticed an oil film in the bottom of the air filter box? I have, and wondered if it is normal. I noticed it while installing AMX,s turbo downpipe. Thanks

I just change out my air filter box and put in a K&N system.
I didn't notice any oil at all.Welcome to this forum. There are some very wise people on here. they will be able to help you.

I had oil in the box, and from what i hear it is VERY common for GT owners. Many people are installing an oil catch can. I have not done it, but from what i hear it is a very simple and cheap mod.

The catch can is a good idea. If you notice that the foam filter in your air box is getter saturated with oil, take it out and clean it with a detergent and put it back in. That will cut down on the oil dripping down into the air box.

I checked with a "5 Star" dealer who could not find the little foam filter in his parts list. He checked with the service folks and they told him "we just throw those things away when they get dirty." WRONG ANSWER!!

I lost mine once while working on my car and nobody, not even the dealer could get me a replacement. I bought a similaly sized filter from an auto parts store and cut it down to fit.
