Default Time Bomb in dash

Don't know if anyone had this happen yet. but a few weeks ago in a rare moment when I had the radio off, I heard two "ticks" coming from the dash area. Didn't matter if I was moving or idling. The ticks would happen every 5 seconds or so. I moved the controls and fan, nothing seemed to affect it. I brought it to the dealer last week, and he heard it as well. Car is going it tomorrow, will report what they find. [:I]

Gary, do you have a rear wiper? Reason I ask is, I replaced mine with one of those faux t handles. If I happen to accidently hit the rear wiper switch it, ticks/clicks as you are saying. It's very faint.
Justa thought..

Wow, amazing...I just heard this same tick/tick...started yesterday after I had my new sound system installed. I figured it was from that and was going to call the installer to come back out and look into it, but I'll check the rear wiper switch (have the t-handle now also - no wiper). Car is currently at the dealership for some work, but will definitely look into that when she comes home!

Man, I love this forum!!! [^]

Boy do I feel dumb. YOu guys were right. I took out the rear wiper and put on the "T" handle. when cleaning the dash I must of hit the rear wiper switch, and that is EXACTLY what I was hearing. Tick, tick, tick, every 5 seconds. The intermittant delay was going. Nice to have that noise gone. Thanks, I wish I would of read this post before I went to the dealer. Thanks Guys, Gary

Had the same "ticking" noise from mine and took a few days to figure it out. I have the "T" handle also.

When the rear wiper is turned on you will hear an "tick" coming from the dash which is the relay working--this is perfectly normal. I just noticed this noise a few weeks ago in my car and took it in for my dealer to check-out. While I was at the dealership I went out on the lot to see if the brand new PT Cruisers have this noise--THEY DO!
