Default hose issue attempting to install boost gauge

Hello all I just purchased an 06 gt mtx convertible. I am new to this platform and turbo cars. I was attempting to install a boost gauge today following instructions I found here. I ran into an issue, it appears that the hose was tampered with by a previous owner tapping into it or doing a cheap repair. I'm afraid to peel off the silver stuff to see underneath. Should I just buy a new hose and does anybody have a part number or a name of the hose?IMG_20141215_163948-picsay.jpg

I don't think it's a repair, it looks like heat shielding to me...JMO.

Exactly - It is clothes dryer vent hose...Need to find if original hose is inside..
If you get good boost, I wouldn't worry - you don't have a boost leak, but if boost is poor, then you've found an issue...

It's not dryer vent hose...if anything it's old time breather hose from exhaust to air cleaner...or some other kind of aluminum wrap.

I don't know what you guys have been smoking. It appears my PT was made from parts from Robbie the Robot too.

If it ain't stock, that only means the same cybernetisist worked on both our PT's. Maybe mine is a TRANSFORMER!

Now back on subject, where do we tap in for the boost gauge? I may need to monitor this while fighting Decepticons later this evening.

I apologize for the double post. The silver stuff is some kind of metal tape wrapped around the hose. I want to buy a new hose. Does anyone know the name of the hose and/or part number?

Look at my photos above. It's exactly the same thing that is on my 05 GT. It's to protect the hose from the heat of the exhaust manifold and turbo. It came that way. I think everybody is just joking around.

NitroPT can likely show you exactly how to plumb that boost gauge. You might PM his if he doesn't pitch in. I've read up on it, but have never added such a gauge myself. So it would be better to get some tips from someone that's used one.

In the mean time, you might want to read this great thread.
