Default P0171 Damaged Vacuum Hoses and Leaking BOV...

My 2005 GT convertible has around 135,000 miles on it now and the check engine light came on. I did the trick with the ignition key and found the code was P0171. Took it to a local shop and their smoke machine found some damaged vacuum hoses (3 of them). Got that fixed but there is also smoke coming out around the blow off valve (surge valve) body. Called Chrysler and they said you can't buy just the valve or any seals for it and that it is a sealed unit with the Turbo... is that true? After questioning them more it turns out they do have the BOV plate upgrade kit in stock.... Would the BOV plate kit come with the seals I need? Anyone have any thoughts? Will driving it like this hurt anything?

If you pull the bov off the seal or diaphragm is right there. Unbolt it and look at it to see what is up. I don't have a pic of the inside. but nothing there but a rubber cup and a spring.

Looks like It. But Give Nitro a shout. Maybe he can put you on it at a even better price.

That's less than a tank of gas.

I think I will get that valve I linked to, but there seems to be a leak around the housing, is there some kind of oring there? I would just pull it and take a look but its my only car so it can't be down while looking for parts.

That is the seal.

This is the cover.

This is how it looks before you install it.

This is the seal diyafram everything. Three bolts and you can see whats up with yours. And bolt it back up if you still need to get a part. Or buy a used one from some here that has gone aftermarket BOV.
Handy_Cruiser likes this.

Thanks for all the pics. Seems simple enough, I guess I can pull it, check it, and put it back on while waiting for new parts if needed.

Would hurt to use a little penetrating on the back sid of the bolts. I even use never seize on them going back. Some have said the couldn't get them loose. I've not had an issue on the two I have had off.
