Default Metal flecks in Cam Sensor

My old thread has expired, but thank you all for the suggestions. I have metal flecks in the Cam Sensor causing 03 PT Turbo to buck like its not getting fuel.

It has taken me some time to get testing done but here are the results. I have put in a magnetic oil plug and had the oil tested and there is nothing note worthy in the report. The boys cut open the oil filter and again nothing.

My brother is thinking it might be the variable cam timing device. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a solution?

There is no variable cam timing device on any PT Cruiser engine. If you pop the valve cover, you may see the problem. If the oil ran low, you might have some scoring in the valve train. Then I would definitely install a new magnet and sensor.

As I said to begin with. It's normal and the flicks do not interfere with the magnet or sensor. You may have a minor connector or wiring issue. But I have seen this on practically all of the ones I have pulled. I at first thought this was the cause of this same issue your having . But over time that seem to not pan out. So had to throw that theory out.

Could this be that the top end of the engine is going.

The camshaft sensor I had installed was from Lordco Auto Parts. Every thing I am reading tell me I should try one from Chysler.

Check the connector and the wiring going to it. Or try another. But nothing to worry with the oil analyses proved that.
