I had read an article on the design and development of the engine. I believe it was done by several contries/industries.

In additional to what you got so far, forum member UptownSport has a whole lot of first hand knowledge on these engines and all the changes that have occurred. And NitroPT known a lot about the changes in the camshaft. This local info on engine changes seems to go a lot further than most of the official literature.
