I been putting some thought on the the next generation PT GT. I figure since there is going to be a new platform for the 2006 models, would it be possible that the V6 for the GTs be similiar to the 300M Special engines?
300M's V6: 255 Horsepower @ 6400 RPMS 255 ft/lbs Toque @ 3900 |

If they're going to drop in a V6 it would be nice if they used the engines out of the Crossfire.
V6 Touring Edition could be the same as the standard Crossfire: 215HP V6 GT could be like the Crossfire SRT6: 330HP (PT SRT6?) Now THAT would be fun! |

The type of engine used will depend on current DEQ law; if Uncle Sam continues to allow the PT to be classified as a truck (because the rear seats are removable). DC will drop the one with the best mileage in, to help the corporate mileage figures. There is much more proffit in the gas hungry SUVs, who's number is limited buy the overall mileage figures. my guess is that DC will bring over the Diesel from europe...better mileage = more 3 ton trucks to sell![8)]

Mitsubishi Group (electronics etc) is buying out DC's shares to save Mitsu... just fyi.
If DC isnt going AWD, Why would it go v6? To get crappier gas mileage?? [:I]

You'd be surprised. I had a Chrysler Cirrus with a 150HP 4-cylinder engine in it, thinking it would be better on gas. The best I could get out of it was about 26mpg.
Then I bought a Dodge Intrepid with a 3.3L V-6, 180HP I think. I consistently got 27-30mpg in it, driving the same route and the same driving patterns.

My wife's minivan with a V6 and much more room gets very close to the PT's gas mileage. I don't think, necessarily, that a V-6 would mean lousy mileage. The turbo isn't much worse than N/A for gas, either.

My Jeep Wrangler had a 4 cyl w/5 speed in it. The gas mileage was the same as the 6 cyl. w/automatic. Why?
The 4 cyl. came with a 4.10 gear to get the thing to move! The 6 cyl. had a 3.07. It's not always the size of the engine that dictates mileage. |
