Hey Guys, I was just wondering what octane pump gas you're all running with the turbo? I've been running 87 in mine and it seems to have a slight stumble in the idle. I had my son fill it up with 93 octane today when we took it to a local flea market (waste of time), and on the way home I noticed no difference. We'll take it to church tomorrow (110 mile round trip) and see if we notice any change. I sure hope so. Thanks for any feedback.

I here ya.
The only real way to use the word consistant when talking about feul is if you did a specific gravity test with them. Contact the distributor and ask about the depot the fuel was mixed at. Know whatbthe allowoable variance in the mixtures is. two name a few. |

I use Valero fuel because it's always worked well in whatever I've driven. But I just happen to know about it because of past dealings with the local fuel company that uses it at their service stations.
Here in Arkansas, Valero fuel is distributed by J&P Flash, Inc. out of West Memphis, Arkansas. They used to be a very good client of mine when I was an environmental consultant. I've never had any issue with their fuel whether it be diesel or high grade gasoline. Of course, this may not be the same deal in other areas. Back in the 1990's I obtained a state license to remove, install and upgrade underground storage tanks. And my company did several hundred of them with me acting has the engineer. This was the big thing then because the new environmental standards were coming into full enforcement in 1998. One of the disturbing things I noticed on existing systems was that many stations were set up to mix higher test fuels. So basically, when you selected premium fuel, you were actually getting regular gas with an additive. In Arkansas, the performance of gasoline is tested periodically by the "Arkansas Plant Board". Yes, the same folks that certify seeds, certify gasoline. And the certification is done at each filling station at each pump. And the additives made the fuel pass the field tests they were using. At least in my area, J&P Flash has separate underground tanks for premium fuel that comes from their Valero bulk storage facility that I believe is on President's Island at Memphis. ![]()
