Default Anyone having strut problems?

It seems my front passenger strut is damaged; as I can hear "metal on metal" contact after every larger bump. Anyone else come across this?

If you don't see fluid on the strut and the car bounces less than three times when unloaded (PA inspection test, don't ask... LOL), then I think you are ok. I hear a slight noise when going over bumps, but I have attributed this to 21,000 miles of normal wear and eventual chassis noises. If you had a bad strut, I think you would REALLY know. Your ride quality would suffer. Your tire would have a weird, uneven wear pattern, particularly since it is on a drive wheel (not the usual underinflated edge wear either).

Look for greasy oil junk. I broke mine after I lowered it on a pothole...

Thanks ..... but I figured it out. Believe it or not, it was a simple matter of the rubber pad that the springs sit on (on the strut housing) not doing their job. It seems the pad moved to where the spring was hitting bare metal, and thus the sound. It took some good examination work to come to this conclusion. I guess I've hit one too many Boston pot-holes.
