Default Getrag swap

I have an 03 pt cruiser gt auto/stick. Recently ran into issues with my transmission. It's leaking fluid heavily and I replaced the front seal, but it didn't help at all. A little background story.... I had engine replaced at local shop everything was going fine until both of the tranny mount bolts let loose and tranny dropped onto the kframe and It broke my axle. I tightened bolts back in fine and replaced the axle I hoped no other damage would come from that. But ever since then my tranny is just pouring fluid out between engine and tranny near check cover. So im now looking into swapping out auto getrag 5speed. I found an entire 2006 gt 5speed parts car...will that year tranny work for mine? I can change everything out since it's all there. Thanks for any advice!!

you just need to carry over the wiring harness and computer ! change transmission, mounts and axels.
i've only done the swap on a suzuki swift but not these cars.

As well as the intermediate shaft, shifter, shift cables, and possibly the console. As well, the instrument cluster is different on the manuals. You will not be able to use the computer or cluster from your 06 donor car since the 06+ cars had entirely different electronics. Not sure if the console from the 06 will fit in the 03 either.

If you need an 03 manual computer, I probably have one here I could sell. I also have a cluster, but it is from a Canadian car so it will display Kilometers instead of miles.

Seems like a ton of work. If you are going to go to the trouble of buying a flywheel, you might consider ditching the dual mass. It was responsible for one of the more annoying and difficult to diagnose problems on my car.

Some of the guys with real power have a vendor that will supply them and I'd probably go that way. Look for Chris15's build thread. He makes some real power and has some clutch and flywheel solutions. It's at least worth a look considering you'll be paying for a flywheel anyway.

the car i swapped was a 2000 pontiac firefly (canada domestic market) . they never manufactured the 5 speed in the 2000 year cars. the transmission was from a 95 firefly. all i had to do was change some wiring, i kept the automatic harness but made attachments for the reverse switch and kept the reverse pedal switch closed. i had to drill a hole and swap the brake pedal assembly for the clutch and make a cutout on the firewall to work with the shift rods. in fact u can keep the automatic computer and the car will still work the same.
but working on suzuki cars is almost ten times easier than these chryslers are. u may even have to end up by removing the engine i'm not sure but a lot of parts have to be removed to just get to anything on the pt cruiser.
