Default VSS (output) sensor . . .

Does it only run the speedo ?
or does the ECU use it it any spark or fuel maps ?

Not sure about Chrysler but my mustang will but only for the mph limiter. It will add fuel by multiplying the fuel table by a number greater than 1 until it runs rich. At the same time it multiplies the timing table by a number less than one. So it adds fuel and pulls timing. They refer to this as torque limiting. It's an effective way to limit speed gently. I would suspect Chrysler would do something similar. For me (on a ford)that is the only way speed affects timing and fuel.

The Vehicle Speed sensor or VSS measures transmission/ transaxle output or wheel speed. The ECM uses this information to modify engine functions such as ignition timing, AF ratio, transmission shift points, and to initiate diagnostic routines.
