Did any of you happen to reset your PCMs? If the PCM compensates the extra hp from the intake the logic thing to do would be to reset it, correct?

I should be getting the kit in this week so next wed. Ill be at gainesville to test this all out. I'll run it as is, reset the computer then run again. Ill be dumping all kinds of fuel...
I have an autostick which was set in 1 for the start of the run.

I've had the pipe on and currently I don't run it. It didn't do anything for my 1/8 mile times.

As far as resetting the PCM. I did that when I first installed it and I got an increased senstation of power. But afterwards it (the power was gone). If the PCM adjusted for it then, it won't do me any good, which is why for me it's off. But I would need to test it on a 1/4 mile to be sure. Another thing, is that anytime I reset the PCM I get an increased sensation of power. So the only time that I will be satisfied that I'm getting a power increased from an item is after I have driven with on for awhile and then taken it to the track. If I just want to have the bestest, fastest run then I will disconnect the PCM before I run. FYI, I logged the track results from the MODs that I have incorporated on a spreadsheet, with dates, times, etc so that I can validate what if any improvements I received from installing them.

My MPH will be improved by me opening up my exhaust. I will go will a 3" downpipe and 2.5" all the way back and will tweek my spark plug gap some. Once I do that and verfiy the results I will go to the next phase. Also, I spin a bit at the start (because I run 40 psi all the way around) and I do some things there to improve my times a bit.

My b/f refuses to believe me on this PCM compensation issue...anyone have the link saved where 3bar explains it?

edit** also another thing may be that the added power after resetting the pcm may be due to the dumping of fuel....

Rice: although the DRs helped your 1/4, your mph probably couldve been higher w/o them. Do you have the autostick or 5 speed

Getting different kinds of turbos and mods is really helping me thinks...I'll bet anything your times wouldve gotten better if you had more time to run...The night I ran my 14.6 I ran a 15.51, 15.9, 14.9, 14.7 then finally the 14.6....
I have autostick, I was almost sure I was gonna hit 13's if I could've gotten another run. Hopefully next time.

R_K_GT,

On your next outing try running 15 lbs. boost instead of 17 lbs. boost and see how it drops your ET's and increases your MPH. I've been reading up on Map Clamps on the SRT4 forums and our computers drasticly pull timing on any boost over 15 lbs. You can buy a Map Clamp for $40 and have it preset at 4.5 volts. That will maintain the timing at about 22 degrees instead of about 12 degrees your getting now when you push your boost to 17 lbs. From what I've read the MC is good for about 20 WHP. (For those of you with Stage 0, a MC is NOT the way to go as your car will run too lean without the bigger injectors and additional programming of S1).

I've run 14.40's with just S1 and the $1 spring mod, so I'm thinking you should be running high 13's with all your "toys" and the addition of a Map Clamp. I'll be trying this out myself sometime in July when I get back from vacation.

Cheers, Deen

Id like to know what kind of trannies you guys have. Mike's 89mph compared with macster's 91mph...could that be due to autsostick vs auto?
I was the only one with the plain jane auto - all others had autostick.

Wow, you had over a full second time difference from worst to best runs!? What do you attribute that to? I figured we all had better times on our second runs because it was noticeably cooler out for run 2. But 1.3 seconds......that's huge.

One other thing regarding my own times....I'm really starting to think that my heavy (23lbs each) aftermarket wheels are, at least to a degree, holding me back. Any thoughts?

Guess I'm last to log in with results...
Had fun meeting the guys.
My reaction times just plain sucked. It's only been 30 years since I last did this and running stock tires that spun like crazy didn't help.Enough excuses, my times:
run1
rt 1.36
60 2.36
1/8 9.6@ 72mph
1/4 15.06@90 mph

run2 (grudge race w/Macster)
rt 1.54
60 2.23
1/8 9.4@73.1
1/4 14.74@91.75mph
I'm anxious to try again - with stickier/fatter tires. I might have done better letting some air out of the stockers, but the compound is so hard it might not have mattered anyway.
I do run Adam's UCP, but use the X brand CAI with a K & N in the stock box.

I'm in next time! Adam told me you were going when he installed my ucp, but I told my wife we would go to Big Bear for the week-end. The tail light fit fine Mike but I still need the bodywork done.

Adam makes a metal upper charge pipe (runs from the IC to the T_body) that replaces the stock rubgber one. Rubber piping has a tendency to ballon, especially under heat and higher boost conditions, and this will effect boost levels. The solid metal piping fixes this.

Glad to help out with the tail lights....sorry you needed them in the first place! Would love to have you join us next month - getting you and Adam in on the fun would give us a half dozen PT's at the strip....that should make an impression!
