Default Considering turbo/new to them

I've been looking at PT's both with and without turbo.
Does have a turbo version add much maintenance to the car?

No. Same as a non-turbo.
I would strongly recommend using synthetic oil and changing it at least every 5,000 miles.
Be aware that 2003 turbos have a unique ( and expensive ) radiator cooling fan.
chromer don and 03TXPTGT like this.

If adding 40% more horsepower is a negative, it isn't, stay away from Turbos.
If every PT was sold with a Turbo, they would be well into making a fourth generation of them now!
The Turbo, including the lite version at 185hp which can be brought up to snuff with a computer modification, makes a sweet little car into a sweet fast little car.
I have an 02 Dream Cruiser and an 07 Pacific Coast Highway Street Cruiser which need some work before I can drive them, but daily drive my 03 Dream Cruiser turbo which is just great!
Enjoy.

I've been driving my wife's standard PT all week and I have to say I really miss my turbo, even though it's a turbo-lite and not a GT. That extra boost of power really makes a noticeable difference and I imagine with a GT even much more so.

I got her a standard mostly because of the greater availability of parts (replacing the turbo in mine last year was no damned fun), but now I'm wondering if I should have just held out longer and got her a turbo. We'll see how she feels after she's been driving it herself for a while.

In answer to your questions, having spent time under both hoods now, I can't say that the turbo presents any significant maintenance differences from the standard.

You should first ask what type of driving and where you will driving your PT Cruiser. A well tuned none Turbo PT Cruiser will have good power for a daily driver and moderate rate of pick up.
