I'm still deciding which mounts to replace, top, bottom, tranny. I read SRT-4 forums and some people have done just the top mount and it had less wheel hop than the SRT-4's with the top and bottom mounts together. However, must of the SRT-4 peeps seem to agree that replacing all 3 is the best way to go.

I was going to try just the top mount with a solid piece (phat bones). Or I might go with a solid filled mount, depends what happens the next few days..........

PTGT_BOY--I don't get any wheel hop on my GT 5-speed. I first replaced the lower engine mount and the tranny mount but I got alot of engine/drivetrain vibration. Things seemed out of balance. Then I replaced the upper engine mount and the vibration is much better. Still there, but not too bad. I purchased all three mount from www.JLMmotorsports.com. They sell all three for about $220. They use the factory mounts, remove the rubber, then fill them with solid with some type of goo that they bake in an oven.

With all 3 mounts replaced, how bearable is the vibration?

PTGT_BOY--the vibrations are bearable. You feel it mainly in the floorboards and seat. I sometime get a noise in the center vent by the windshield which bugs me. If you ever get a chance to drive a WRX STI, then you will have a better feel for the vibrations I'm talking about. I highly recommend the mod but do all three.

Mike--thanks for the comments. I used to have a 2002 PT that was Deep Cranberry hence the purplept name. I decided to keep me old name for continuity purposes.

As of now, I pretty much accepted that my getrac 5-Speed can't really match the SRT-4's tranny. Maybe some small improvements like suspension and motor mounts are probably the best for the 5-Speed GT's. I've taken my PT out to the track and 2.4 sec 60' is roughly the point to avoid wheel hop for the getracs. Other than that, I'm still trying to find ways to get my 5-Speed into the high 14's without Stage 1, but the best mod is to drive better [].
Has anyone looked into the differences between the GT and SRT 5speeds. I am not talking about manufacturers, more like, Can you put the SRT-4 one into a GT? Is the clutch housing and flywheel the same, etc. [:I]

I would bet it would have to bolt up.
The blocks are supposed to have the same bellhouseing and bolt pattern.
I know the subframes are the same.
The only difference that I can see is that the tranny mount on the drivers side is different but in the same location on both vehichles. So maybe that would be just as simple as getting a SRT-4 driverside Tranny mount.

Don't know for sure. But sure would be interesting to find out.

3Barboost indicated that the NVT850 transmission didn't fit in the GT's, it was about 2 inches too big, hense the Getrac 5-Speed was used. Just friggen 2 inches................ [xx(]

I guess if I wanted a SRT 5spd.in a GT Cruiser bad enough I would start notching the frame/body or something.

If 2 inches is all it took to get the SRT tranny in the PT you would think that Chrysler would of tryed harder to make it fit.

Just think how many of those tranny's they could of sold in the Motorsports Catalog.

Yes, but the Cruiser crowd is very different from the SRT people. Most are interested in power but mainly just bolt-on stuff. Even though the tranny is a good idea, I really dont think there is a market for it.
