Just kinda wondering what normal boost pressure readings have been for others running a mbc valve? When i installed mine i took it out and did several test runs and finally settled on running the mbc with a dead stop run, auto stick in manual mode, the boost will hit approx 16lbs and then settle down to 10-11lbs after 1st gear.. Does this seem normal or should i be seeing something different? The biggest difference the mbc made was spool factor, it seems to spool up much quicker than before and final run pressure may be about 2 lbs more than stock...I was hoping to see the boost pressure stay at around 14-15lbs all the way through my runs, is this possible? Any input would be helpful thanks, pt pete...

Pete,
I am kinda new at this small disp turbo stuff but my understanding is this, The PCM sees the high boost, as reported by the MAP sensor, and this is why it is dropped, you can "clamp" the MAP with a diode to regulate the voltage and trick the PCM into thinking it is only seeing 10psi or so, BUT you must add fuel or you will lean out. This is where piggy back fuel controllers come in, to add the extra fuel. I am getting S1 and a PSI-FI Power Paq, it has a built in MAP clamp, adjustable, and alot of other cool features, go to the SRT site and do some reading, there is too much to go into, and I don't want to give wrong info. Tom Please if I am wrong, some one correct me. |

You are right, the PCM will pull the boost and fuel feed
back to what the program will allow, remember we can do very little before the turbo because the PCM is in control. To make more power without the PCM getting involved as quick it must be done after the turbo (bigger inner-cooler inlet and outlet pipes, larger inner-cooler, larger downpipe highflow cat.)

He dropped me an e-mail last night saying he had a bad night at the track, 14s at less than 100mph, traction problems, and grabbed a hood holddown with a rear tire, so only got one pass.
I am waiting for s1 and exhaust from Tommy Thrift, then getting a o2 bung welded in, then the PP and EBC. Remember a year ago at Kahaunaville when I said I wouldn't waste money on s1, uh [:0][:0] It kills me to miss it today, but I have to go to a stock holders picnic, kind of a family thing, BUT FREE CRABS AND BEER AND CRABS, AND CRABS, and food.
