The red LED light comes on when the other lights do on start up cycle. Then goes out.

If the security light is not coming on I would suggest focusing on why your fuel pump is not running. Check the group of ground wires going to the passenger side wall and make sure they are all making good contacts. One of the ground wires is for the fuel pump.

We need to eliminate any possible causes before looking at the PCM. Its possilbe that the arcing to ground lowered the normal resistance in the coil windings that allowed excessive current to flow through the coil, which may damage the PCM driver circuit as you posted. If you do decide to replace the PCM I would suggest you make sure the coil is working properly first. If it is a bad coil it can burn out the drivers in the PCM again.

I checked the grounds near the air box and battery and they all seem to be fine and not even corroded at all.

I do have a spare coil (the one I replaced) but I'm not sure if it's any better than the new one. I can also take the coil back to the junkyard and get another one.

So at this point is the verdict the coil and/or ECU?

i suggest you get a subscription for alldatadiy and start following the trouble shooting steps for itermittent symptoms and rough or slow idle. this should be your first resource, then check with us here if you're still stuck

welcome to the forum.
seems like your issue is going to take a lot of diagnostics initially to find out the exact issue.

i would do some general tests initially just to see where we are with your engine condition.

1. intake system pressure test; - this involves using pressurized air applied to the intake. in my case i hooked up a shop vac in blow mode and adapted my hose and piping into the front heat exchanger discharge hose (towards throttle body) when the front end was on jackstands. i then used a spray bottle of soap water and a flashlight to check all possible points for pressure leaks which can affect idle quality and boost performance. can search for my posts or threads and i have more details on how to do this. the engine misfire could be a intake leak causing a lean condition
2. use your obd scanner and find out your idle speed. is it about 740-760 rpm when the engine is warm with no accessory loads ? if not, we have a problem.
3. engine compression test. involves removing the upper half intake manifold. run the car and take out the fuel pump relay until it dies then you can run the compression test. either that or even better is a pressurized leak-down test and record and post your results.
4. radiator pressure test. can get an adapter to check for leaks in this system too like through your head gasket.

these tests will check your intake, crankcase and cooling system for potential issues and should get you close to getting started. the most important part of automotive trouble shooting is spending the time and work to find the exact cause of a problem before even attempting to fix it. never just start changing out parts you think may be a problem. this is the biggest waste of time and money that less skilled mechanics fall into the trap of.
later on we can get more specific with your ignition or fuel system once we eliminate more potential causes.

Alright, I got a little further on diagnosing it.

I went to the junkyard and grabbed a 2005 N/A ecu (all of the turbo ones were gone, picked clean) and I put that in.

The engine cranks and gets fuel! It just wont start, it blows the ASD fuse. But I'm sure that's because it's the wrong ECU tune, etc.

Does any one have a way to check to see if this ECU can be flashed to a turbo tune? Syked tuning said some '05 ECUs have that ability.

This is what's on the ECU.

Or does any one have an '05 Turbo ATX ecu I can purchase? Someone is selling a Stage 1 for $250, but I was wanting to get a Syked flashed one which would make my total investment like $500 on just the ECU.

Thanks guys.

I guess I should update this, since I've had no issues since.

I bought a Stage 1 PCM off of eBay for like $80 shipped, sent it off to Syked to get it flashed and chucked it into the car.

It runs great now. Starts no issue.
