Default 5spd. Issue 2005 GT

Hello all, my 05 PT GT convertible manual 5spd. Doesn't like to shift when hot, and high rpm.

Previous owner stated that clutch has been replaced recently, and seems to be true. 135k miles and the clutch grips well and doesn't slip.

Issue: when hot, and high rpm (having fun wot through the gears) the clutch pedal loses all feel/stiffness when trying to depressed to change hear. The gear gets stuck until the rpm comes down and clutch pedal resistance comes back, then I can shift.

What's going wrong here???

This does NOT sound like the problem that I had, but on mine the clutch and gearbox were good, but the dual mass flywheel "delaminated" causing a bunch of problems. It would stick in gear and whatever you did it would not come out. With the car shut off it would shift fine. Very strange experience. Mine was an '03 and had over 100K when the problem occurred in 2012.

Yours sounds more like a clutch issue (feel/stiffness?). The experience I have with hydraulic clutches hasn't made me dig too deep <knock wood>, but that is what it sounds like to me.

Sounds like a fluid issue?

Considering RPM and clutch stiffness really don't have a common connection.

I'd just start looking at it and noting everything you notice wrong.

Fluid good and new?
Does clutch work properly when granny shifting?
What do your shift linkage bushing look like?

By not shifting, are you locked out of gear? Can you get it into neutral? does it grind if you try to shift?

It sounds like a slave cylinder / throw out bearing issue. Does it make any noise when it happens? Any noise that you can hear anyway? It's probably hard to hear if it is since its at high rpm when it happens

follow the factory slave cylinder bleeding and filling procedure. you need a special hand pump and a hose to install the fluid from the fill point at the transmission access port. perhaps there's air in the line, or your fluid is high in moisture content and is boiling causing loss of response and feel.
