Default Different turbo years pro and cons

I purchased a 2004 Gt last year and I was advised to get this VS 2003. I really like the car, but while the car runs well it has a few cosmetic issues. I decided to upgrade to a lower mileage car and get one that would be worth tinkering with. I know that the 2003 had smaller injectors and funky fan motors. What to you guys think are the best years for the GTs.

The 2004 and 2005 GT's are the best. Put a Stage 1 PCM in any of them and they are fast as any made. And you can have a stock PCM flashed to Stage 1 at a very reasonable price. The same is true for the 2003 but you will need some injectors from any later turbo PT and the 2003 GT radiator fan is expensive to replace.

The reason to go with a 2004/2005 and not a later PT GT is because there are more accessories for the 1st Generation PT's and you don't have to deal with the CAN-bus for stereo and electrical mods. The 2nd Gen turbo PT's are nice. I own a 2007 vert with a custom PCM. But the 1st Gen's have more advantages. I really like the 1st Gen GT wheels too. I have a set on my 2007 vert.

Thanks for the reply. I found a several gt ranging from 40k to 60k and from 2004 to 2007. The prices are all over the map the constant seems to be that they sell slowly. So I am taking my time to get the right color and options.
Just to recap 04/05 are the best but the later ones are ok but are less modifiable.

Here's two from my area. Both have some miles on them. These asking prices are pretty well in line. I'd expect to get at least $500 off each of these:

Of all the ones that I had, the 2006 GT HO turbo was the most fun to drive, power-wise!

I called her the Black Sheep!

"If ya ain't breakin' parts, ya ain't goin' fast enough."

Actually I have a 4:1 ratio PT vs Ford regarding towing.

2002 PT: towed for snapped timing belt, stripped clutch disk hub, failed coil, failed fuel pump

1992 Ford: towed once for TFI module getting cooked due to extra heat from the supercharger when the cooling system was stock. Took 2 minutes to fix. Allllll the pt stuff was "fun"

Less modifiable as far as trim items, maybe some engine items. It depends on what's important to you. I like both gens, and they both have their advantages.

I have a 2004 Platinum Series, turbo, and it runs like a top, and is faster than what I'll ever need. The ECM recently went flukey, so I got one from member myckeee (sp?) here, and he programmed it with a GT tune. Holy smokes it's even faster now! Too bad it's for carting my Mother-In-Law around (97 years old with Alshiemers). My wife takes it out once-in-a-while.

It's REALLY easy to get up to too fast a speed without knowing it. And ... Let's just say I have gone REALLY fast in it, and it handles like a dream.
