Remote Start

Hello Gang

I'm Getting a new 2004 PT GT and want to get Mopars remote start system added to it. The price quoted seems extremely high compared to what I see the kit and harness selling for. Any info on this subject will be much appreciated.

It is very possible for me to be wrong but, i always thought we couldnt get remote start because of our special keys.

There is a trick to the special key, you get one 'flashed' and then put it in a key box close to the ignition[8] My uncle had a Compustar paging alarm, w/ remote start installed for about 800 cdn.

Thanks for the response Blonde. I've had two of the dealerships guys say it could but they may not know the particulars. One did say his service guy said they could do it. Do you have a link to any info saying otherwise? Was it just the GT that it could not added to?

Check with Best Buy. I had an aftermarket one installed. They put a trick wire in the steering column that fools the ignition into thinking the key is there. After you start the vehicle you must insert and turn the key on or the car will die as soon as you push the brake pedal.

I live in Wisconsin and drive the PT year round. I find it to be 1 of the most useful mods I have done. I can heat it uo in the winter and cool it down in the summer.

According to Mopar their remote start systems are designed to work with the vehicle electronic key systems, and do not require the possible forfeiture of a customer's keys for installation.

My dealer told me they were not for the PT. But hey, they never heard of the Stage upgrades or Mopar BOV conversion either...[xx(]
