Default PT stalling when AC on after RPM drop!

My car lately has been dropping RPMs and stalling while idle or when driving when the AC is on. It doesn't seem to happen when the AC is off.

A few things to note:

My car has about 105,000 miles.
There is no CEL.
The shop I went to said there were a bunch of fault codes including a tranny code that said there was no battery connected. I did recently disconnect the negative cable of my battery to remove a subwoofer. They cleared the codes, and no, they didn't give me a copy of what codes were there and I don't know how they found the codes since there was no CEL. Are they full of shit?
The battery was replaced about 7 months ago.
The spark plugs and wires were replaced about 2 years ago.
I do have an aftermarket sound system with 240 Watts RMS (previously 740 Watts RMS with subwoofer) and I'm pretty sure the factory alternator amperage is 120 so that shouldn't be an issue.
I have not noticed any lighting being dimmed except for when I start the car and when I'm playing loud music (I think that's normal). I have LED map, dome, and cargo lights.

But yeah I am so confused and would really appreciate some assistance, thanks!

I would suggest checking the radiator fan if it is stalling or running rough at an idle with the A/C on.

To me, this sound like the idle air control actuator. This is what feeds the engine air while idling and when you let off the accelerator while driving. Check the wiring first. If you find no problems you can remove the IAC actuator and test it with jumper wires to see if it moves. It may only be stuck due to carbon buildup.

Beyond this, there may be a way to check the IAC by reading the resistance in ohms. You will need to check the service manual to see if that is an option for your PT. However, heavy resistance across the IAC should likely throw a trouble code. A stuck IAC actuator might not.

It turn out to be a super dirty idle air control valve. Look at the carbon buildup on this puppy!

I tried adding the "i" at the end of the link but the pic would just disappear. 😂

Looks like Todd nailed that one. How's it running now?

did cleaning that actually fix it? IMO that is not very dirty at all. If mine looked like that I wouldn't even bother to clean it before putting it back..... Partly because the last one I cleaned I broke.
