Well, I just got a call back from the shop. They said they feel the power steering sqeek is normal. I never noticed it until I started listening for things that sounded wrong. So it was possible that it always sounded that way. They pressured tested the coolant system and found no leaks. They suspect the excess went out the overflow since they had filled it up to the "fill hot" line. I was hoping that might be it as well as I have seen no leaks so far. And as far as my airbag light, they said they had to order a module for it. So hopefully I will get the car back tomorrow and this will be the last of my problems. I appreciate the responses and have decided for now that I REALLY like my PT and don't want to get rid of it and at this point, am not ready to take the trade in loss. But I am gonna keep a real close eye on things as I approach the 36,000 mile mark. Again, thanks!
If you have a 5spd 03 GT, there is a TSB on one of the power steering lines. They simply have to replace it. If the sound occurs after the car is warmed up and is independent of the torque on the wheel, then that is the TSB issue (as noted above). I had this and it's all fixed now.
I'd consider a lemon law issue with your GT. If the dealer will take it off your hands on a trade in or exchange, you should. The 04's are better equiped and the Stage 1 changeover would only involve the PCM.

I talked to the shop yesterday and they have ordered the parts for the TSB.

I have looked into the lemon law here in the state of NM. It states that the car has to be within a year old and they have to attempt to correct the same system 4 times unsuccessfully. I haven't tried to contact anyhow about it, however, but have only read on it. Maybe I should contact someone to get more information.

As far as the trade in, the reason I am hesitating is I owe 21K on the car but they only want to give me 14K trade in!! I thought that was completely ridiculous. And that was 2 different dealerships. But when I looked up the trade in value on edmunds, kelly and nada, it is right around that price. It really is disappointing how fast it fell in value.

Well, I got my car back this afternoon. I drove it around for a few minutes and the squeeking from the steering is 100% gone! Thanks for the TSB info. However, I went to move it out of the garage about an hour after I got i home, and I had a few ounces of power steering fluid under the car. I opened the hood and there was fluid all over the reservoir. Is it possible they may have overfilled it and it all drained out the top? This is getting pretty darn frustrating pretty quick. I hope that is all that has happened, but it was late and the garage isn't really well lit, so it was hard to tell. Did anyone have any leaks or anything after the TSB was performed? Oh, and I checked the fluid level and it was over the full mark. Will the excess fluid just finish draining itself if this was it? Again, I need some of the expertise from all you knowledgable PT owners.

no leaks after the TSB.
They prolly overfilled the tank...I hope. Make sure all the lines ar tight and caps sealed.
Dealers are idiots.
Glad at least something is fixed.

I checked it this morning, and it is definitely overfilled. Even after what spilled out, the level is about 1/2" over the max line on the stick. So I am hoping it is that and not a leak.

However, on the way to work this morning, my airbag light came on again. So after two tries, it still isn't fixed.
