Default Encounters with Rice

Gang,

While I do not endorse street racing in any way, here's my latest Friday night cruising experience.

BTW, all streets were completely empty, 4 lanes, out in the Nebraska barren lands. In other words this is as close to a dragstip as one can get without getting to one.

Challenge #1

New 2003/2004 Celica GT-S, huge exhaust cannon pipe.

From about 10 miles an hour, we nail it. I had about 2 car lengths on him before we hit 60ish. I thought it would be closer.

Challenge #2
New Mitsubishi Eclipse GT-S Blue (good choice) with the carbon fiber black hood (not a good choice), huge exhaust cannon pipe (why?).

I thought this guy would take me for sure, but it wasn't even close. He couldn't keep up at all. When we stopped his buddy was ribbing him cause a Cruiser beat him. Don't you love that?

Challenge #3
Late 90's Ford Probe GT
Now this thing was seriously riced. Ground effects, spoiler, neon, guages everywhere, a dash mounted tach the size of a watermelon, it would have made Kenny Bernstein blush. And of course a giant fart pipe single exhaust system.

I really thought this guy would pound me hard. As you probably guessed by now, he got smoked. When he finally pulled up he accused me of using NOS! I gave him my line about it being a rare HEMI Cruiser and he laughed it off.

All in all it was a fun night, everyone seemed nice about being shut down by a wagon. I drove home with a big smile on my face.

Wait till I get the Stage 1.

I live in California and see alot of ricer cars, including mine (Xenon Body Kit, Custom Roll Pan, SSR's, Factory Spoiler).

However, noone has really challenged my cruiser other than 1980's corolla's and late 1980's Chrysler minivans, I don't even bother with these people. I've even had soccer moms with their kids in the car flooring it LOL.

I guess the 2.4L Turbo Badge is sticking out the hatch.

I plan to change the badges to:

Chrysler (left side)

PTGT Boy
-------- (right side)
Edition

wonder if that would get some challengers.

However, I thought about getting Stage 2 and changing the right badge to SRT-4 [].

I changed my badges and haven't had a challenge yet. Maybe they look at the plate too! The one on the right is S1, the center is the 911 turbo badge.

I pulled up on an older Eclipse, like from the old AWD/Turbo days. Riced to the max and I was not going to even try against an old school gt-s.

But I noticed something. He had painted over his model badge and I could make out that it was an RS[|)]

Ownage ensued [8)]

What does "riced" mean?

I thought ricers were Japanese/asian cars, like souped up Hondas.

I ask because amazingarthur refered to a Probe as being "seriously riced".

"seriously riced" is defined in the PT Cruiser Dictionary as "any foreign-made car, any make, with a VERY BIG exhaust-tip, large spoiler, dark window-tint with bubbles in it, custom stereo/CD with two suibwoofers in the truck, poorly installed vinyl racing stripes/side graphics, lots of cheezy window, underhood, and bumper decals, which sounds like a souped-up law mower on a good day, that can do 0-60 in, maybe, 15 seconds with a good tail-wind. [B)] [:0] [B)]

RICE QUOTE OF THE WEEK: "I love pulling up to a stoplight next to one of those little pimped-out econoboxes with the Hot-Wheels tires and the huge spoiler and tinted windows and not enough muffler, and watching them scoff at my ancient, beat-up, primer-grey-mottled beast, then, when the light turns green, flooring it and leaving them coughing in my smoke and trying to explain to their frat brothers why they just got dusted by a family station wagon..."
