I'm in the San Diego area (Poway). My wife bought a new 2003 GT - auto, White and bone stock right down to the tires about 1 1/2 years ago.It has 18,000 miles. No digs or scratches. She wants somthing that gets about 30mpg and the GT just is not getting it.Make offer. If any one is interested call me at 858-486-7389

18000 miles at 30 MPG = 600 gallons or about $1260 at $2.10/gallon 18000 miles at 23 MPG = 783 gallons or about $1643 at $2.10/gallon So - you would have saved $383 or about $256 a year? Your fuel cost may vary... How does that compare with depreciation from purchase? I hope your next vehicle meets your expectations... PT's are not the most fuel efficient, and about average on emissions output. |

Big AL; You must not be married. It's not the gas milage I think it is just the time lost at the gas station that she could be at the mall - spending even more money. I laid all the math on her and she didn't want to here it. She had a Toyota Camary before the GT and I think it had a bigger tank. Her bitch is that a tank does not even last her a week. Her Toyota would go a week and a half to almost two weeks. Thats 52 (GT) fill ups per year to 34 (Toyota) which is 18 additional weekends she dosen't have to waste time getting gas. Someone has to keep the economy going.

I now understand. It's not fuel economy - it's miles per tank... Yep - there are other things out there that will do better. I don't drive enough to worry about such things too much. |

Congradulations on your 10 years of marriage. My first wife and I are in our 28th year- who knows she might work out. I learned years ago that all the math and logic in the world will not change her mind. Miles per tank / gallon is her only complaint about the GT she likes everything else about it; ride height, handling, power, and braking over the Toyota. That GT just dose not fit into her schedule- there could be a sale going on right now.

Maybe she should get a Dodge Dakota, My Dak has a 24 gallon tank and at 18 miles to the gallon, I can go over 400 miles on a tank, she would only have to fill up twice a month. And mine is a V-8,the V-6's get even better mileage..

Hey Doug,
Just curious...why don't YOU take her GT in the middle of the week and fill it up for her? PS: Just past my 35th anniversary and the wife has never filled up her own car.

I canghe oil, rotate tires, wash, and wax it- all on a strick schedule. We both work and have a teenage daughter. It's 9:30 and they are out getting something for my daughters school project. The only time I get to drive the GT is when we have an "Ozzy & Harriet" day. By the time she is done running around for the day I'm in bed.I leave for work at 5:15 am. I'm going to go press some sheets right now. NIGHT |
