K9 Cruiser, I agree with you completely, I will usually run against just about anything (civics, eclipse's, acura's, Z-71's, Cherokees), I just have an N/A PT as well. With the flowmasters I think I scare people off and sound like I have more than what should be under the hood.

What year mustang GT's are we talking here?
Current generation 4.6L and a previous generation 5.0L GT. I had race radio playing while running the 4.6L and heard the track announcer make the following comment about my PT as we neared the end of the run: ".....and it appears he's really got some horsepower in it too!"

With regard to running the EVO: PTGT_Boy is right, we'd never take one in a real heads-up drag race, unless the drive blows a shift or something. On the street, from a roll, could be a different story. If he really thought the PT would be easy to kill and he didn't give it 100% and then got surprised, it may well be close. I had a similar experience with an SVT Mustang - he came up behind me and then changed lanes and stopped next to me. Light went green and I jumped, but not 100% because there was no real indication we were going to race. Apparently he didn't thought my little PT was being silly for even trying, so he hit it harder, and then I nailed it. He got just up in front of me and I saw the SVT badge and realized me error. I kept my foot in it and stayed on his bumper, but of course I have no idea how hard he was trying. Fun though, no matter how you play it!

I rolled up next to another one of those Dodge/Plymouth (no badges) 440 Six-Packs, yellow with black stripes. I could feel the vibration from his pipes!! I glanced at the driver, smoking a Lucky Strike, tatoo and grease under his nails. I figured he knew what he had and by the look he'd been wouking on it. So....I slipped into D and let him just tool on his way! I might be dumb, but I'm not stupid!!!![8)]

Hey guys! I think K9 REALLY DID have a chance with the Evo. With all the nice mods he installed, especially stage 1 combined with the VAK upcharge pipe, makes his PT close to the Evo's power. And the fact, as stated before, that the Evo's AWD is horsepower hungry (like most AWD's) is an important factor. I think they were both very close it power. [8)]Back in the days, I would have changed the camshaft to a wilder one, changed the crankshaft, and bored out the cylinders for larger pistons.[:0] Now it's just a matter of swapping out a few parts, adding mods, and installing PCM's with a more power precise programming than the stock one. [8)]Go figure, now it's alot easier to squeeze power out of my little GT than rebuilting a Nova's engine![?]

By the way, does anyone know if any company out there will reprogram a SRT4's stage 2 PCM for a PT Turbo? Their electronics are extremely similar, so I guess a stage 2 PCM reprogramed with a PT's vin and mileage might work. I'm getting tired of waiting for DC to wake up and smell our agony. That's the reason why I haven't gone stage 1 yet. I was screwed by DC before, and now I feel as a GT owner, I'm being promised something I may never see.

P.S. Mike-in-orange, I don't know you, but DAMN, your PT is WICKED!!! I've been to your site and your PT is one of the hottest I've seen yet! And I followed your advice and used a clay bar on my PT. It looks better now than when I picked it up at the dealership![:X]

I gotta disagree with you Su Gamer, 271HP is 271HP, yes, AWD does suck up more horsepower, but you're talking another 40 horsepower. Regardless of straight line racing, which is not what the EVO is built for, try going against it on a road course, and it will leave you in the dust.

Problem is, the streets tend to be straight lines. [] To be honest, I still think a stock EVO should win against a roll with hardly any problems. I guess I should go pester my neighbor if he wants to try on a roll [B)].

A stock EVO should be able to handle a modded GT Cruiser NO PROBLEMS.

I think so also, but anyone got a friend with a stock EVO to have them run against a PT GT with Stage 1 so we can all put this question to rest.
