Mike,

I think the argument is that you're NOT getting the maximum contact patch when you run the standard PSI. When you nail the gas, you get use of that contact patch for a split second, then the weight is transferred off of the front wheels, resulting in a reduced contact patch because of inertia (tires spinning causing the tire to balloon a little) and less weight on the front of your car than the 35PSI expects.
Hmmmmm, that makes a lot of sense. Might have to change your name to smartjoe!

I've tried doing that, and it just didn't seem to make any difference, hence my comment about my experiences. Of course, last time I tried the traction at the track was just hideous - I actually smoked the tires for almost 100'! Ask PTGT_Boy, he witnessed it, but it seems the distance goes up everytime he tells the story! I just might have to play with the pressures next month.

Well, in my ignorance, I forgot to lower the pressure in the fronts last time out. Wifey and I kept smoking them through 2nd gear. Then we were in the staging lanes waiting and a SRT4 guys asked what lbs we were running at 'cause he noticed all the spinning and smoke. (must admit, it did look cool from a PT) I told him 38-40lbs. He was like WTF? fool, lower it to 20 or so. We lowered it to 24 and that helped a bunch. This was on the stock 17's. Tomorrow we are gonna give it another go [8)] The fronts are basically down to near no tread now [8] anyways [?]
BTW, the OEM GT rims will be in the for sale forum here soon. 2 with good tires, 2 with bald tires.Just gotta see what the going rate is. [8] Will OEM 15" steelies fit the GT?
Thanks,
KB
