We went from about 10mph, he had a quick jump on me, but by 60-70mph I passed him.

We tried it one more time, same results.

It was much more exciting than I make it sound.

He couldn't shake the disturbed look on his face (did a PT Cruiser just pass me?), but he did give me a wave as I turned.

I made you guys proud, huh? I really thought I would lose this one. Ooh the power of Stage 1.

Since it's off a roll, its believable. Of course, like all threads, the WRX is better off the line, handles better, looks better, and has nicer interior. BTW, we're just a neon. (I thought I would say it now, before 1,000 seperate posts come into play []).

A WRX's weakness is on rolls. AWD is good off the line, but not very impressive off rolls. IF you start from a dig, he'll most likely end upahead (if he can drive). If it's an automatic WRX, he should be shot for even buying one.

A PT's weakness is off the line. FWD do alot better off rolls.

I need to try a GT manual vs a WRX on a roll, but kinda hard to ask people around my area drive the STI's, EVO's, M3's, S4's, <insert car higher than $60,000>.

I forgot to mention this was with my "nice weather" rims and tires in the back of my car.

I'm guessing it was an automatic WRX, it wasn't very close.

Is a WRX with a manual really that much faster?

Either way it's fun to pass a car with such a street racing rep. BTW, I have always thought WRXs are UGLY!

I agree with Arthur too. WRX's are Ugly. Its too Bug Eyed for my taste. I like the retro styling and the lowered front end look of my PT.

Arthur I drove a 5 speed WRX a while back and I'm sure you beat him fair and square. A stock WRX is not all that fast compared to a stage 1 PT.

Interiors on Subarus are crap...the PT doesn't have many bells and whistles but the component quality is better as is the fit and finish (amazingly!).
Looks are always a matter of opinion so I won't even comment.

WRX Manuals are quicker than automatics, that's assuming the person knows how to drive.

After the race, I am fairly sure I would've kept up with out Stage 1.

Again, I am surprised I passed a WRX. I thought they smoke the Turbo Cruisers.

Consider this; you are racing a car that without any mods has 227 horsepower and 217 ft/lbs, and weighs roughly the same as a PT Cruiser... now with stage one, you have 8 more horsepower than him, and an additional 43 pounds of torque. I would hope you'd at least be able to keep up with him. Yes, manual versus automatic does make a difference. You want a real race, take off your stage 1 and then see who wins, that will really be a matter of driver ability.

I have never lost to a WRX or STI or EVO. WRX is a piece of crap. STI and EVO are more fun to race but I always seem to find the guys think that they are too good to race a little PT. they laugh at the Side pipe and call it broke. But when the light turns green, they get me out of the hole by a car then by 3rd I pass them. every time.[8)][8)]
