Default Blown Gear box after Turbo Charging

I have just killed a gear box on my 2 Litre PT cruiser Classic after it had been turbo charged.

Does anyone know of a heavy duty gear box for the PT's that can be purchased.

I'd get a used tranny from a wrecked 03/04 GT. Others are looking into beefing those gearboxes even further but so far no one has done it that we know of. Current members here are making inquiries from high-performance tranny builders and it probably can be done...just bring lots of cash
Also on your current engine you need to keep the boost under 6-7 lbs. boost or it will go Kaboom also. They will not handle the kind of power the GT is making unless highly modified.

Thanks Hyracer, I will speak with someone and see if there are any wrecks available.

Do you know if the 2Litre block will accept the tranny from an 03/04 GT?

What we basically get here is a Neon 2 litre DOHC motor.

Yes the engine did go Kboom, in fact that is now my number plate.

We are now running a Howell Automotive motor 8:6 compression with forged pistons / rods, balanced, blu printed, hi volume oil pump, Garrett ball bearing turbo with 12 lbs boost, high preasure fuel pump, port & polished head, 3" exhaust.

We get a just on 160 kw at the wheels.
From the factory they are 105 kw at the flywheel ( approx 75 to 80 kw at the wheels ).

A small improvement ! [8)]

Do you have the diesel PT's where you are? If so, those have the same transmission as the US GT's...

No we don't get the Deisel or 2.4 Litre or GT Turbo models.

Can anyone tell me if the GT uses equal length drive shafts or is it a long shaft and short shaft like the 2 Litre and 2.4 Litre models.
