Default California Speedway results 11/13/04

Interesting day yesterday: the weather was far cooler than we'd yet seen at this venue, and the wind was slightly behind us rather blowing 15mph straight in our faces on the track. In attendance were yours truly, PTGT_Boy, LiquidPT, macster, tezz, Rice_Killing_GT, and even baggedptturbo03 showed up late in the day just to hang out. Robert was kind enough to bring along a set of BFG drag radials on nice, lightweight wheels for me to try out. The place was packed, but we managed 3 runs. Mine played out like this:

Run 1:

R/T: 0.495
60': 2.216
330: 6.104
1/8: 9.356
MPH: 75.38
1000': 12.173
1/4: 14.554
MPH: 94.24

Run 2: (dropped pressure in drag radials from 29 to 25psi)

R/T: 0.287
60': 2.184
330: 6.115
1/8: 9.424
MPH: 74.76
1000': 12.313
1/4: 14.748
MPH: 92.42

Run 3: (swapped back to my street tires at 34psi)

R/T: 0.530
60': 2.216
330: 6.125
1/8: 9.414
MPH: 74.30
1000': 12.276
1/4: 14.694
MPH: 93.34

Before yesterday my previous best time had been a 14.87 @ 91mph. Interesting that my time on street tires split my two runs on drag radials. Go figure.

Oh yeah, mods are: Stage 1 on a Turbo Lite auto tranny, VAK intake, Magnecor ignition wires, stock Champion plugs gapped to .042. That's it.

04 GT 5-Speed Manual

My Set-up for this run is: Rear Seats are OUT, Spare and Jacks are REMOVED. 1/4 tank of 91 California Octane.

Mods: Mopar Dual Exhaust, VAK pipes (Colorful pipes), SSR Competitions 17x7.5, Mopar Short Shifter, H&R Coils (Set at 1.5" F 2.0" R), Xenon/CC Body Kit, Stock Box Silencers are removed, and Stage 1 (Couldn't wait for Stage 2).

1st Run (Running about 90-95%% throttle, I zoned out and ran it like a freeway ramp granny shiftin)

R/T: .005
60': 2.327 (Some wheel hop)
330: 6.395
1/8: 9.745@74.67MPH
1000: 12.550
1/4: 14.951@93.82

I ran with LiquidPT and won by pure reaction time, however, he did run a 14.752@94.18.

2nd Run & 3rd Run
DNF

My uppercharge hose kept blowing off, time for some T-clamps I tried a few outside runs near the track and still had problems with the uppercharge hose blowing off, guess 15 psi from Stage 1 is a bit too much . I'm just peeved to see my day wasted, but at least its always fun to hang with the PT/SRT-4 crowds.

Where is California Speedway and how often do you guys go there? It sounds like fun. I am curious to see how quick my GT is.Do you strip out the seats or just run with everything including tools, jack and spare tire?

California Speedway is in Fontana, close to where the 10 & 15 freeways meet - just east of Ontario. Same place the NASCAR boys run, we're just on the dragstrip right outside the stadium.

We all remove the back seats, but I leave my spare and jack in. I don't think they're heavy enough to make much of a difference.

Next running is late January 2005. Keep an eye on this and other forums 'cause we post all the time in the weeks leading up to race days. We'd love to have you come out - it's always a great socializing day!

The wife and I went to the block party in Pomona and had a blast! I was a little upset that they wouldn't let anyone run their own cars though.People there were all very nice and very into PTs.I'm the type to carry extra belts, complete tool set, air pump, tire patch kit, extra oil and tranny fluid, tire chains, bulbs, fuzes, blanket, shoes, earth quake kit etc.I guess I just like to be prepaired for what ever!I built a double engine motorcycle for speed and screwing around (170hp @ 550 lbs)and use to work in a formula car shop, and built a couple of street cars using detuned formula engines, but the PT GT puts the fun back into driving again!

Geez dude, no wonder you bought a PT - nothing else short of a minivan would have had enough room for all that stuff.

Hmmmm, we could you for some pit lane tuning between races! Hey, it's a blast, you really should come out in January.
