They probably had your car, but in autostick and didn't want to go throught the bother of ordering a manual trans PT. I'm not sure if they get an incentive from DC if they sell cars from their stock.

I gotta go with the stick crowd. I just like shifting except in a ver few instances. Like last weekend coming back from Palm Springs I was stuck in trafffic behind a huge accident for and hour and a half creeping along at 0-5 MPH. That is really the first time in almost 2 years now that it kind of bothered me.

I am sure that they just didn't have your car in a 5 speed and were too damn lazy to try to dealer trade for one.

H'mmm let's see. Stick is cheaper, gets better mileage, has better acceleration, less likely to break,....
The only downside I can think of is that resale of a stick is lower because of demand for auto.

And we didn't buy PT's for it's resale value, that's for sure!

H'mmmmmmm...I don't think so [:I], at least not from my experience,
including 03GT 5-Speed/04GT Autostick comparisons. [8]

..and that's probably why the dealer tried to get Alini to buy the Autostick....most of the PT's on any lot will be automatic, as Don said. If he can get Alini to buy one off the lot instead of having to order a 5 speed, that's faster money in the salesman's pocket.

Oh and to answer Alini's original question, yes you most likely are crazy but that has nothing to do with the stick vs auto debate.

Just test drive both, without the salesman. That should confirm what you're already thinking, or surprise you.

My PT is my first automatic ever. I got it because I was tired of reaching into the back seat when I was driving to pick up my baby's bottle.

I am very happy with my automatic, although next car will probably be a stick again.

The automatic is not very good in the snow. At least not compared to any stick I had previously.

I'll agree with that statement once PTGT_Boy is able to outrun me at the track....until then, I respectfully disagree.

I'm perfectly happy with the auto in my PT and it isn't even an autostick! I liked the autostick in my 2000 V6 Dodge Stratus, and thought I'd miss that when I got the PT. Nah...no biggie. Besides, I've got a 5 speed in my "true" sports car.

But this isn't really about what you want, what I want, or what any of the rest of us want. It's about what Alini wants, and that's a 5 speed. If he/she has always had a stick and truly prefers a stick, then the autostick just ain't gonna cut it.
