I went to a dealer the other day who treated me like a retard cause I didnt want the Autostick. Sorry Im a creature of habit, I have always had a stick, is the autostick that great??
We're ordering next week so I need to decide soon, gonna set up a test drive later this week. Whats your opinions? |

I've got a stick and I wouldn't trade it for nothing. Besides, Chrysler's auto tranny has been known to crash and burn. The auto tranny in my wife's '01 went out (81,000 miles) and out of warranty it was around $3,000 to fix. She has an auto '04 PT now but she also has a 90,000 mile warranty. The autostick is still controlled by the computer and is the same auto tranny that was in my wife's '01. If you decide to get the autostick make sure you get at least a 90,000 mile warranty. I think you should stick with the stick and tell the dealer to just order it that way.

What the h*ll does the dealer care what you want? It's your car, your money, get what you want - whether that means blue instead of white, cloth instead of leather, cassette instead of CD, 5 speed instead of auto. Geez, where did he learn salesmanship??? Give the customer what he wants - it's pretty basic!

IF YOU WANT THE STICK, GET THE STICK! YOU WONT BE HAPPY WITH AN AUTOMATIC IN THE PT. GUARANTEED! BESIDES, IT'S FASTER.

If you like and are used to driving a stick, then get one. However, I have owned both--the GT 5-speed and GT Autostick--and, the Autostick is the best of two worlds IMHO! [8)] [8D]

I agree with Gary (First time?) BUT If you want the stick find a dealer that will sell U a stick!![8)]

I prefer the Autostick because I spend most of my time in bumper to bumper traffic.
I find that the Autostick isn't as responsive as I'd like it to be when I'm pushing it hard in "manual" mode. There is a bit of a delay between when you tap the Autostick, and when it shifts. You should probably ask yourself why you prefer the stick. Do you REALLY want control with a race-responsive transmission, or is it just habit. If it's just habit, and your driving conditions warrant an auto, the Autostick may be a good transition into the Automatic world.

If DC stills offers a 5spd, then it's your right to get one.
I have a 5spd, and went through the inventories of dealerships in 3 states to find one. I went to DC's web site and did a dealer search and browsed their inventories. When I found the car I was looking for, I went to the dealership and told them I wanted it. I had some dealer trying to sell me a DC2 after I told him I wanted a regular GT 5spd. They'll try to sell you what they have on hand. The AS unit costs more and prolly is bundle with other more expensive options. Hell, it's your money... BTW, I drove both, and the fun factor for the 5spd pushed my decision. Also, find a dealer who wants you to buy a car that you want. Don't compromise on an option that you'll have to look at and hate until you sell the car.
