Default Cure for dimming/flicker lights

Like many of us experienced this problem (dimming, flicker lights, chocking horn sound in the night time). Yesterday left GT in local dealership. Re(from service invoice):" ...Tech found that the multifunction switch is shorted. Tech replaced switch. Description - Switch MU 8053059 Warranty..." Assist.service mngr said that they aware of that problem and have some kind of TSB. Hopefully this is gonna help some of us... [?]

Try doing a hyperground. Better grounds throughout the engine. I have no light flickering with my hyperground. http://www.ptcruiserlinks.com/forum/...TOPIC_ID=10751

I don't believe a hyperground can fix a bad switch. It may help in cases where a ground is poor, but it isn't a fix-all.

No, it won't fix a bad switch, but a lot of people have complained about the lights dimming when stepping on the brakes and that is a poor ground.

Hey,
Is chrylser going to do a recall on the switch or should we go have our switchs looked at??? A fellow Pt'er in our club has a 2001 Pt and her recently had a nice little fire going on in his dash and multi function switch. It seems it shorted out and melted the wireing harness cost him over $300 and he got th new harness form a junk yard for $15.00.

Don

Hey Mike, Thanks. I've got PT pics, but still need to get them in digital format to post. That one is a filler until I can get a more forum specfic signature up. Spent the weekend working on chevies (friends don't let....) and didn't have a chance to get my stuff done.

What about lights dimming when you step on the gas?

How do you know this problem is from a poor ground? Althought I can see how such a thing would affect this, there are plenty of other possible causes too...
The diesel (European) models had a fix for this that required a PCM flash! Can't fix a ground with software... []

I have the dimming issue too. It is slightly bothersome...
