I strongly believe I can get the engine and have it installed installed for under a grand. Its either that, or get the engine, take off the turbo, and install it on my engine. I am also thinking of just trading in my pt, but id have to put the oem exhaust back on and whatever else. Would it be possible to just take the turbo off of the gt and put it in my n/a?

edit: There are a few ways around stage 1 but with added performance right? Like the AGP WGA, Boost controller, and whatever else. When I came up with this, I figured that even if I wasnt satisfied with the added 70 hp, I could do other things than just Stage 1. I just want a faster car. Im done with being a snail.
I think you're stongly deluding yourself. Assuming you got the engine for free, and somenoe to install it for free, you would still need tons of auxilliary parts that are not free. You'd need a new PCM. Go get a price on THAT from a dealer, even with a discount. You'll need the intercooler and the piping, and that isn't cheap, no matter if you do it Mopar or aftermarket. Also, keep in mind that the non-turbo cars had a smaller lower front grille opening, so the stock intercooler won't be as effective on your car as it would be on a GT. You would need al the intake plumbing and whatnot, and possibly a new throttle body. Not to mention all the sensors (assuming your engine doesn't come with them) like MAP, TIP, etc.

People are telling you to go with the Hahn turbo kit for a reason, it's proven power. If you want to try something "out there" like a GT engine swap, be willing to sacrifice the car, because once you start trying to move things around to fit the GT engine in the car, you'll be lucky to remember where everything used to go when if you find out it doesn't work and need to swap the stock engine back in.

Sounds like you are still living with your folks, either because you're young or you have al ot of college debt or something. Be smart. Make a minimal investment in your car (a few thousand) on a proven system, and get some extra power. Otherwise, ride out this decision you made and wait till it's paid off before you go hunting for your next project. Consider it a life lesson, and learn from it. I did this early on, now I will never own a car with less than 200HP, because I know I, like Tim Allen, need MORE POWER.

I'd bet the bottom end of the GT motor is an even swap. If you could swing a shortblock from your connection, and a Hahn turbo kit that would be a good combo.

Having said that: trade your PT in for a GT and save yourself a lot of headache and expense!

You guys kinda have the wrong impression. I will be getting the entire underhood of the GT. I will have the pcm, intercooler, and whatever else. If I cant do that, I might just swap the turbo off of the GT engine and put it in my car.

Jeez, if you parents would kill you just for putting nitrous on, what will they do when your car is out of commission for weeks while you try to get it running by trying to do a bits and pieces upgrade utilizing parts that are not compatable, tearing your engine apart, etc. If you had years of experience doing this sort of thing it would be a huge undertaking. Being a noephite is a recipe for a car that never sees the road agian until thousands of dollars and hundreds of man hours digs you out of the mess. Gettting this done for "under a grand" is really wishfull thinking. You can't just plug a PCM in. It won't run your car unless it is programmed for your specific car. Are you going to use a turbo PCM? You will need an entire wiring harness for the turbo PCM. You are going to tear the engine down and replace pistons and rods? Not for "under a grand". You really need to sit down and put pencil to paper and add this all up. Find out EVERYTHING you will need, don't just think about it a guess at a number. This kind of project has automotive disaster written all over it.

Taylor, listen to these old fellas', they know what they're talking about. Scrap your GT engine idea. You're just looking for trouble, and it will take you longer than that long President's day weekend. Seriously take a look at the hahn or whipple kit. That's gonna be a lot of money, discount or not. Start looking at more reasonable mods, such as underdrive pulley, new cams, new rods, new pistons, a short ram intake, etc. It doesn't just have to be engine stuff too, take a look at springs, brakes, sway bars, or new shocks. It's your money, and it's your hard labor, but just think about the world of s%$# you'd be in if you couldn't get something to run right with that new GT engine.

Choices... Well I guess the best choice would be to tke the turbo off the GT engine and put it on mine.I know I couldnt do stage 1, but i could prolly do a wga and boost controller right?

Why do you bother to ask for advice?

OK, have you not been reading any of the previous posts? Have you not been keeping up with what all is going on with GT engines? It's not like taking a car made out of lego's apart. The GT engine is totally different from our N/A engines. Somebody correct me if I'm off here, but the GT has a different head, pistons, rods, and a different oil delivery system. Not to mention the mods to the transmission and cooling system. It's not as simple as bolting on a new intake or exhaust. You're dealing with just about every system, short of the window switches, in the vehicle to make the turbo run right.
