ChromeCruiser is correct. Don't try to just dump a GT turbo onto a NA PT. That is a receipe for diaster. Your reasonable choices are 1) install a Hahn turbo, 2) trade in the NA for a turbo or 3) leave well enough alone.

Based on another Hahn thread on this forum, Jackson Racing may now offer a 4th option, a supercharger.

I agree with you, and the Jackson Racing supercharger looks nice, but I don't think I like it. The boosted torque ratings in my option are not up to snuff. Only a 19 ft/lbs gain, but a 44 hp gain? HP is, as any person experienced with engine building knows, is basicly a gimic. Torque is where the true power lies. A car like a Honda Civic that makes 127 HP, but only 114 ft/lbs torque is just wasting power. The old beetles had very low HP ratings, but a great amount of torque so their little engines took them everywhere! I think I prefer the Hahn's and the Whipple's any day over the Jackson Racing's.

And Taylor, listen to us. I am only 33 this month, but I have been working on car for 20 years. I have swapped out engines and trannies. I have torn apart cast iron 350, 400, and 440 Chevy blocks, and completely rebuilt them. I once made a rear wheel drive car into a 4 wheel drive car by using the parts from a junked 4x4 model. But even I would not attempt what you are trying to do. To put it bluntly, The GT is are a completely different animal. It's like a wolf and a dog that look the same. Look the same, but the wolf is faster, stronger and more vicious; plus their DNA may be similar (same family) but are different at the same time. If you can get the GT engine for almost nothing, I'd tear it apart and use the internal parts for your engine, and get a Hahn's or a Whipple. Plus expect for your car to be out of comission for a good amount of time.

I've heard that you can get GT rods, pistons & bearings new from the dealer for less than $300. btw, You probably won't need them unless you plan to go over 200whp...which is about what you get from Hahn stage 2 at 9# boost. Neither whipple or jackson should require any upgrading of internals.

Oh Boy, this is a little scary! There is certainly a lot more you need to learn before taking a task like this on. Not bashing you just trying to help you understand a little better.

No you cannot use the GT shortblock with your existing head.

The GT engine swap is much too complicated for you or your friend.
.
The GT turbo can not just be taken off and bolted on your engine.

Yes you can use the Turbo, but you will need a large # of other things:
-Fuel system
-Fuel return line
-Fuel Management system for fuel pressure
-Piping, hoses, fittings, lines. What size will you use for each of those??
-Downpipe
-Boost controller
-Boost, Fuel presssure, A/F (wideband)gauges
-Aux coolant overflow
-Possible battery relocation
-Map clamp
-etc...

OK once you get all those ironed out, you need to be aware of what your boost limits are of the stock bottom end.

You might as well us the GT internals to beef it up so you can play with boost a bit more.

There is a lot to think about here.

there you go!
one step at a time.
Just run the hahn stage 1 at 5psi and im sure that will keep you happy for some time. you'll be impressed with the impovement. its all i've got right now and my car is no slug.

now when funds are avaliable i can add small things that'll really make it go.

sorry your idea didnt pan out but take it from me,
MR. Beentheredonethat.

Is there any way to increase boost on the hahn without doing stage 2?

Just like any other turbo, add a boost controller! Just have to be careful; the n/a engine parts weren't made for added stress of double digit #'s of boost. And a boost gauge is important.
