I dont want to wake up a dead topic but..

It would be nice to see a newer turbo motor installed on an older N/A PT or a smaller lighter car. this is what honda's/acuras have been doing .. but in that case it is to a lighter car..

Thing that might bring more younger kids into the PT world is if they could buy an older PT for 5-7 grand and pull out a turbo front clip from a junk yard and drop it in.. I know it is not as easy as dropping it in.. but if you have the front clip I dont see why it wouldnt work.. you have all the electical ecu.. ect.. and if you wanted to do a stage 1 just take the vin # off the PT you are getting it from... just depends on how fast you want to go.. there are going to be way cheaper and easier cars you can buy if you want to go fast for cheap.. buy an old 88-91 hatchback for a grand.. throw an LS motor in for a grand and throw a drag turbo on it for $2,500 .. done.. you have a 13 second car.. (well suspension..ect.. but ) I am sure the first time someone said that.. or swaping engines on other newer cars people said it coudnt be done..

I am not saying in this specific case it would be wise.. The guy is talking about doing it for under a grand and also mentioned replacing internal parts while motor is out.. but for a more experianced mecanic would be fun to see..

Another option is to drop a V6 in like Maguires did.. But like others on here have stated... you realy need to get prices for everything you need..

I have done the hommie hook up many times and usualy it doesnt work.. if he is doing it for a realy good price he will probly do it in spare time.. wich might turn out to be a few hours a night at first.. but then might turn out to be an hour a week..ect.. 6 month or longer transplant.. and if you are working with a limited budget I wouldnt do it..

Just wait til next year and you too can get your PT Cruise with a underpowered V-6 installed, from the factory. DC will make it happen for you, all you have to do is wait.

If you were going to buy an old 4 cylinder PT and play with it.. throw a V6 in it.. you will be faster then the stock 4cylinder.. and if you are going to put a different engine in it you would hopefully pick a powerplant that had some potential for upgrades..

I have not heard about the V6 powerplant in the PT next year? might be fun to buy one and see how much power can be extracted with them.. or how they react with a supercharger? But I dont know for me it would suck.. as I make uppercharge pipes and would like them to keep using the same engine so I can use my part on them..

I see the PT's comming around more and more performance wise.. people are already buying used PT turbo's for pretty cheap and are more inclined to try new things.. since they only paid 17 grand as oposed to 23grand.. If I had extra room to work on a PT would be fun to pick the cheapest one you could find 5grand maybe? and play with hit ..

I noticed there are a few people on here that own shops and have more money that have taken the motors apart .. thank you

After seeing the one that Mother's did in their panel and talking to them about the problems they encountered putting the six in, I wouldn't want to try it. And ultimately they didn't end up with as much HP as the Turbo churns out.

if I were going to do a project like that i would make it rwd.

One could always put a 2.4 Turbo in any car, all you need is a stand alone engine management system like Hal-Tech. Then you'd be able to extract more performance and easily get a cruiser into the 13's

the major limitation is the NAZI computer

oh yeah it would have to be a stick shift because of the TCM
