Default Motor Mount Install

Anyone give me a step by step for the upper motor mount install. What's the best wrench to get the larger bolt off? Not a lot of room in there. What size is that bolt? I tried to size it with a 19mm and 17mm wrench but they didn't seem to fit. Also what's the torque on all of the bolts and were you able to get a torque wrench on that large bolt? Any and all help would be good.

Thanks rice. What did you torque the block anchor bolts and the big bolt at? Were you able to get a torque wrench on the big bolt at all? I don't think I can get my torque wrench on it.....Nope, I just tried it and I can't get my torque wrench on the big (18mm) bolt.

Tom,
After looking at the install instructions posted here there are a couple of things you should change:

1. Since you are only doing the upper mount skip the potion on the lower mount and pencil strut...you still need to support the engine by placing jack and wood block under the front edge of the bell housing, do not jack engine tranny/up. Just put enough pressure to lightly support.

2. Remove bolts attaching upper torque strut to shock tower bracket and engine mount bracket. Remove torque strut.

3. Remove Top Block Anchor.

4. Place Top Block Anchor in vice. DO NOT flip around as suggested in above install instructions as your style of mount fits into the recessed area of the Top Block Anchor.

5. Mate new torque strut to Top Block Anchor and then tighten large bolt to about 20 ft. lbs.

6. Remove assembly from vice and trial fit in car to make sure everything lines up. If it does, then reinstall in vice and final-torque strut bolt to 75-85 ft. lbs.

7. Reinstall assembly in car and tighten large shock tower attaching bolt (18 mm) to 75-85 ft. lbs.

8. Torque Top Block Anchor bolts to 43-45 ft. lbs.

Deen
