I think that I would have someone else change your oil...

lil, it's hard to see just lifting the hood, but if your car is safely on ramps or jackstands, you will be able to see it from underneath. It is a good idea to have someone with experience give you a hand, or at least QA your work. It isn't any harder than changing a tight lightbulb, but the consequences of a mistake are a LOT more costly...

Now be nice. We all started somewhere.

Once you get the front end up in the air you will see it on the passenger side of the bottom of the engine.

I agree that you should have someone help you the first time. Make sure that the rubber gasket come off with the old filter. I have had them stick to the engine block and it is not a good thing put the new filter on top of that. Be sure to put a thin film of oil on the new rubber gasket. Do not overtighten the new filter. Hand tight is fine. You don't want to distort the new rubber seal.

Buy a shop manual at the auto parts store. You can learn a lot about your car just by reading through it

The first place to learn is the owners manuel and get a chilton or haynes manuel and read it...then start doing stuff to your car...
