Gary...I think you are the type who would like it, my wife drives our PT and enjoys the whissssh when she hammers it and lifts on the throttle...
My wife doesn't mind the BOV sound either. She thinks it's sort of like the noise air-brakes make on a large truck, but, to a lesser extent.

Gary--YOU know that you WANT a BOV!

You've heard of the "Mark of Zorro"? Well, this is the Mark of Turbo!

My 2 cents: It's a bit beneficial on automatic trans, more beneficial on manuals and most beneficial on manuals that races autocross where they're in and out of the gas, big time. It helps to keep the speed of the turbo up when the throttle is closed.

My wife is highly entertained by it. Makes her giggle.

Tommy Thrift said, I believe, that although there is no performance gain, the quicker more complete release of pressure should provide longer turbo life..........

I would just get the BoV just to release the excess pressure off the turbo.

Stage 1 on the 5-Speed Manuals with just the stock surge valve, your RPMS tend to hold a tad longer than with the BoV. In addition, when you drive agreesive and shift to the next gear, you will heard a faint feedback of air being pushed back in the air box and sounds like the turbo is being crammed in with alot air (sounds like bad feedback). I would suggest a BoV with Stage 1 for the 5-Speed Manual PTs.

TurbomanGT

sounds like everyone here is in agreement, you must get a BOV for your car!

Besides it will provide you with one more device to polish under
your hood The BOV plate it anodized blue.

I install the BOV on my 05 convertible and notice improve shifting with the 5 speed. My wife who rarely drives the car mention how the car was shifting easier the last time she took the car out for a spin. She did not know that I install the BOV.

The link below shows a greddy type S BOV for $199.99 for the PT Cruiser. There is a $130.00 difference in price between the Greddy and MOPAR BOV. Can anyone tell me why the Greddy is so much more?

Well, for one thing, the name Greddy isn't free. I think the Mopar BOV is actually an "upgrade kit" to the stock BOV that comes on all PT Cruiser turbo engines and that's why it costs less money.

I have always assumed the more expensive BOV's can keep a higher boost then the MOPAR units. But I dont want to go over 15 to 18 lbs anyways. I figure for a given engine the more boost the less life U have in the engine.
