I had my dealer install Stage I a couple of weeks ago. While idling and running through the car wash, the engine started overheating. I had a fan relay go out about six months ago so when I checked I wasn't surprised to see the electric fan not working. I opened the fuse box and noticed that there was no fuse where the fan recept was according to the owners' manual. I put in a new fuse, but this failed to resolve the problem. I then noticed that the high speed relay switch was missing. Should I suspect sabotage or are all Cruisers built this way?

The turbo PTs use a variable speed fan controlled directly from the PCM.
The hi & low speed fan relays used on the N/A PTs are not required. |

mine did the exact same thing in the car wash, twice. A few weeks apart. Just turn it off and restart it. All will be ok. It hasn't happened since. Stage 1 glitch [:I]

Correct MX-5. I took my Cruiser in and learned that the turbo does not use the high speed relay switch nor the fuse required for it. I did learn that there is a new TSB that addresses the overheating problem. The computer had to be flashed. I was concerned that it might affect my Stage I settings, but they assured me that it would not.

Not sure how they were able to flash the computer without wiping out the special coding in the Stage 1 unit. Didn't think that the dealers had that capability last time I heard.
Sure hope that they are correct. Otherwise they just returned you to Stage 0.

If I remember right, the early Stage 1 units had a overheating problem with the fan not working. You might have to send in Stage 1 to have it reflashed.
