I use the Mobil 1 M1-209 filter along with Mobil 1 5W-40. The hex on the end of the K&N filter sounds interesting, I'll have to get one and try it out.[8D]

This topic has been explored by reputable researchers (Engineering school masters thesis I think)
Purolator, Fram, Many O.E.filters....did not do well. Mobil One and K&N came out on top for strength and filtration. It's hard to argue with folks that do the research an lay it out for all to see.[8)] |

Those of you who are using synthetic and think you can actually go longer than 3000 mi between changes, think again. I would Highly recommend replacing the filter @ 3k and topping the fluid off. You would be surprized how fast a filter cloggs up and bypasses and the better it filters the faster it cloggs. [^] |

One of the interesting facts exposed in the filter study was total area of the filter, and suprisingly: the cheaper Purolator, Fram and O.E. filters did not win there either.[8)]

and millions of people have and continue to use these filters with no problems....If they were really bad and cause ending problems that have been proven do you think that people would continue to buy them let alone would they even be produced....I dont think so...

People, people, please remember that our turbos are incredibly hard on oil. If you are always standing on the gas pedal the turbo creates an emormous amount of heat. Our turbos are oil lubed, so the heat added to the oil by the turbo breaks down the oil fairly quickly. Especially if you don't cool the turbo down and the oil ends up "coking", or cooking, inside the turbo. Synthetic oil will hold out longer, but it doesn't mean go 10,000 miles with it! The cheaper oil filters are great for regular engines, but for the extra strain put on our lubrication system by the turbo ... I don't think so. Point blank and bottom line, like I said on the turbo gas requirement forum, YOU brought a powerful, fast car and YOU spend a good amount of money for it, so stop being cheap! STOP USING CHEAP OIL AND CHEAP FILTERS, AND CHANGE THEM EVERY 3,000 MILES! Dang, why do people spend so much for a performance geared car and act so cheap with the maintance and fuel? I don't mean to sound critical or mean, and I mean nothing personal towards anyone, but if you don't want to treat your turbo cruiser right then sell it to someone who will treat it right and buy yourself a crappy underpowered shoebox. As for myself, I only use the best; the best oil, the best filter, the best gas. I even pay extra to wash the car at a totally hand carwash where they clean everything, even the door jambs.

How about MoPar P/N 04781452AA, you know, the one that was engineered for the Chrysler turbo 2.5L engine. This is the one to use, it works!
