heat buildup may not be that much of a concern but i would decrease the interval for fluid change just to be safe. The phantom grip comes with a hardened steel pin to prevent wear. You can put different springs in to control the amount of slip allowed.

lockup: i beleive that it is locked all the time and is allowed to slip when wheel speeds differ. I am not sure if clamping forces increase with more torque but will have to find out.

Tommy has the best option. If you just improve one part then the others will end up failing sooner.

Quaife makes a true LSD for the 5 speed but it is over $1,000

I wish that there website would actually show how that thing works. I mean I know how lockers, spools, lsd's work but that mechanism looks nothing like the ones I have worked on for a RWD car. Of course I have never split and engine/tranny in a FWD car to work on it.

The website is a bit coy about how it works, but if you look at the installation PDF, it looks like the GM spring posi's that are in the 12 bolts. Didn't look through the whole site, but is there any mention of special fluid/additives?

Here is some relavent info on various Phantom Grip style traction devices from TD.com Cliff tested units by Alabama Man, Tru Trac, Phantom Grip, Future auto. Note the units can be had for the 3spd A413
trannies which have a similiar diff to the A604/41TE in the PT.
