Default Compressor Filter

with the $20 catch can using the Campbell Hausfeld filter, has anyone having trouble with synthetic oil breaking down the polycarbonate bowl. The sticker say not to use it with synthetic. Just want to make sure before installing it. Does the bowl standup to heat well, thinking about installing along the firewall just above the turbo heat shield.

Thanks
Paw

I have not used a catch can, but all I can say is if you install one DO NOT install one over the manifold heatshield! Last thing you need is the catch can popping, spilling or melting over the hot exhaust manifold and turbocharger! That idea is a fire waiting to happen! You'd be better off installing it in the front closer to the airbox.

Here's mine.

I've had mine for over a year with no problems. I empty it once a week. I would not put it over the turbo heat shield. The bowl is plastic and would melt.....Sugamer, I've had a Greddy catch can at one time and now the Campbell Hausfeld catch can installed for over 18 months and I've collected and stopped 25 ounces of oil from getting into my intake manifold. You might consider getting one.

Thanks for the advice Tom! Actually I got a BTG open air intake, but I didn't connect the tube from the PCV to the intake. I put on a seperate mini K&N style air filter to the end of the hose. Works pretty good, lets the head breathe and I will wash and recharge it when I do the BTG filter. Or I may throw it out and get another one. Autozone has them for only $10!

By the way, is that a motor mount insert I see???

Where can you get a catch can like that? I have an Injen Air Intake, and the rubber line connects after the filter.

Thanks for the pics Mean Green, I'll put mine where you have it. As for filter I got it from Home Depot, Chromedcruiser. They are Campbell Hausfeld re-branded as Husky.

That is a good idea to not hook that breather line to your CAI. You did well.....That's not a motor mount insert. That's a filled motor mount from Deyeme Racing. I got it with the "firm" filler. Took out about 90-95% of my wheel hop. Now the power goes to the ground [8)]

I have the Turbo, where the PCV is on the right side of the car. I like your location better. Thanks

Paw, the n/a and turbo PT have the PCV's in the same place, therefore the tubing to the filter should be around the same area. Both Rally's and Mean Green's are ideal locations. Just kept it away from the exhaust manifold and turbo! Like I said before, installing the catch can on the firewall near the exhaust and turbo is a fire waiting to happen!
