Default DC Aftermarket Spotters Guide

Looks like DCX is showing service Depts what to look for on illegal mods and warranty.

Interesting that they dont seem to consider stg 1 an "unsafe" mod if it isnt used with all the other methods to raise boost. They consider it low risk.

Good find. Interesting document with insight into the manufacturers issues.

Its just to bad that they don't put as much effort in everyday service. It seems as if they are looking for more ways to screw the customer then to help.

I'm on the manufacturer's side on this issue. They sold you a car that was engineered for reliability. You decided to re-engineer it for performance. You push it past it's engineered specifications. If it breaks because of that you shouldn't be able to ask them to foot the bill.

It's interesting to note that they can examine the mileage in the cluster verses the PCM to see if you swapped computers. If they look they would have a good idea that I had Stage 1 installed even if I had removed it prior to taking it to the dealer.

It also has a really helpful diagram of the "spring" mod (LOL).

Not sure about that. I thought 3Bar had said this wasn't true back when he hung around here.

Very, VERY interesting. My buddie that has modified his PT AND his SRT4 would be happy to know this, and sad the stealers are actually looking for this stuff, even if it's not their. The mechanic's are getting turnned into 'detectives'.Just think, your friendly mechanic could actually have to inspect, to deny you warranty benefits. This COULD be[xx(][xx(][xx(] then[8]and even[?][?]....... Thank you on the HEADS UP,....Stew

I have to disagree with this one. Sure I wouldn't expect them to honor warranty on a car with nitrious since NOS can be dangerous if not tuned properly or if it gets stuck open. But the stage kits? They themselves sell the Stage kits, but talk about shortening the life of the engine. Whats up with that? The spring mod is BS since the PCM will learn about it after awhile and compensate for it. The SRT guys that have done it, only use it on the track for a temporary boost. It's the same crap DC shovels about the GT speed limited to about 126mph because the car gets aerodynamicly unstable after 130mph. We have seen video of a PT dragster with another engine and RWD that reaches 163mph in the 1/4 mile. Aerodynamicly unstable, huh? Truth of the matter is the stock tires are rated at 130mph, so DC limited the speed so it wouldn't reach the tires' speed rating. DC shovels alot of crap at us, and I personally was screwed by them. I might buy an SRT-4 after I pay off Junior, then again Junior might be the last DC I ever buy.
