Thanks for all the support guys. I got the estimate this morning. A touch higher then I originally thought but not bad. $388 CA. I have called the jerk and let him know about the cost. You should have heard the guy try to back out.
I "gently" reminded him that he hit me and it was him who did not want the insurance company involved...But I could go get a Police officer to come with me to pick up the money. He then agreed to have it ready for me tonight. I am still cautious but I am willing to give the guy one chance to make things right. As far as going to another shop goes my dealer is considered one of the best shops in the area. Many people including family members have had cars repaired there with fantastic results so I am not too worried about the quality of the work. The sad part is...I really wanted to change the front end...not the back. I like the look of the stock rear-end. PS if the guy doesn't pay maybe I'll just "accidentally" post his name and address and other info on the web. I am sure that would make his life interesting???...<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle> -------- 2003 Silver GT PT Cruiser 3rd Brk cling, APC GEN2 Eurotails. Dear nbr10:
It is too bad about the accident, but at least you have a chance for the driver who hit you to pay. In my case, the driver went away, and we couldn't see the license plate. So, I have to pay anyway insurance deductible, but it isn't my fault! It's not fair, but like you say, what are you gonna to do? I hope your PT is fixed fast. It is a strange, but reading about everybody with accident makes me feel better like maybe it is not all my bad luck to have a crash from somebody else's fault. It can happen to anybody. Best to know you are not to be hurt and PT can be fixed. Good luck. Santacruzer |

Well I got my money. I was prepared for the worst but in the end it worked out OK. He paid the amount on the estimate and didn't really say too much. I guess he figured he got off pretty easy.
Now I just have to wait and see how the car turns out. It goes in Wednesday. I'll let everyone know how it turns out. Thanks again for the support. -------- 2003 Silver GT PT Cruiser 3rd Brk cling, APC GEN2 Eurotails. The now "famous" ghetto intake... |

Well I picked up my car at 3:30 Yesterday. It looks great. The first thing I did was pull it into the sunlight to make sure that it matched and it matches perfectly.
It feels good to have this mess behind me and start enjoying my Turbo again. I had the front License plate holder painted too. It really does make a difference in the appearance of the front end. I would reccomend to anyone looking for something to do with it to consider painting it. -------- 2003 Silver GT PT Cruiser 3rd Brk cling, APC GEN2 Eurotails. The now "famous" ghetto intake...
